Cleadon Vase Pair

This is a pair of vases glazed in Celadon and reduction-fired in a gas kiln. The classic green of Celadon can only be achieved in gas or wood kilns—not in electric kilns—making this a delicate and highly skilled process.

Where the glaze has pooled, it creates a denim-like effect, revealing the glaze in a flowing, melted state. The black speckles across the surface are iron particles in the clay that rise to the surface during reduction, adding a natural, textured pattern.

On one vase, a small spot of glaze is stuck to the base. Removing it would leave a black mark on the clay, so it remains as part of the piece’s unique character.

You may notice natural glaze flows, small dots or bubbles, gentle warping, or subtle kiln marks at the foot. These are not defects but inherent traces of the firing process that make each piece unique. For these reasons, returns are not accepted.
