Wood Fired Galactic Vase

This vase was reduction-fired in a wood kiln to cone 10. It is glazed with a mix of high-iron khakhi and rutile glaze. Owing to the placement of the vase in a wood kiln, it has been blessed with a lot of ash deposition, producing an interesting mix of colours and gradients.

The drippy Rutile glaze produces white and blue waves; the Khakhi glaze produces black and brown. The combination of these two produces purple, red, and orange hues. The way in which the glaze was poured out creates an interesting composition, almost like the vase has two distinct personalities in one.
